He passed away August 10, 2010 at Hammon, Oklahoma at the age of 65 years and 28 days. Dale grew up in the Cheyenne, Elk City and Oklahoma City areas. On September 14, 1965 he entered the United States Army and served 2 years. He spent 8 weeks in the Army Chemical Cemter and school and from this, he received a certificate of completion. He was sent to Vietnam and was in Saigon and other locations working with a chemical control unit. He was in Vietnam 11 months and 16 days. He was decorated with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal. Dale received his Honorable Discharge as a Sp 4 on August 28, 1967. After returning to civilian life, he received a diploma in refrigeration and air conditionig. He was married to Brend Joyce (Elrod) Potts at Elk City, Oklahoma on March 26, 1986. Dale worked at many different jobs, mostly truck driving, until ill health forced his retirenment. He enjoyed playing the guitar, Bingo and visting with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eskell Elden Potts, paternal and maternal grandparents, brother-in-law, Dalton Burrows and nephew, Daniel Leon Burrows. He is survived by his wife. Brenda, of the home; parents, June and Norman Widener, Elk City, Oklahoma; 7 brothers and sisters, Toni Swartwood and husband, Bill, ElkCity, Oklahoma; Carolyn Burrows, Hammon, Oklahoma; Pauline Pennington and husband, Larry, Reydon, Oklahoma; Sharon Hyland and husband, Bob, Ridgefield, Washington; Glenn Widener and wife, Sharon, Katy, Texas; Clifford Widener and wife, Crystal, Tuttle, Oklahoma; Elaine Wright and husband, Glen, Springfield, Oregon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were held August 14, 210 at 10:00 am at Whinery-Savage Chjapel officiated by David Worsham. Burial followed at Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
