She passed away July 14, 2003 in the Baptist Integris Memorial Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 28 days. Alene graduated from Strong City High School where she played basketball. She worked as a house keeper and seamstress in Strong City. She was married to Delmar Glennard Robinson at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on August 1, 1937. They made their home in the Strong City community where she was a farmers wife. Alene worked as a nurse aide at the Cheyenne Convalescent Home and Veneta's Nursery in Strong City. Alene was the secretary/treasurer of the Roger Mills County Republican Party. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Strong City community quilters for over 50 years. Alene was an avid gardener and won several ribbons in the county show for her canning of fruit, jellies, and jams. She loved to visit and go on trips with family and friends. She was an active member of the Strong City Baptist Church for over 50 years. Alene taught Sunday school, lead singing, served as the treasurer and janitor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Services were held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Strong City First Baptist Church, officiated by R.B. Mathis and Bobby Hatcher. Burial was held in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne. Survivors include: 2 sons, Farrell Robinson and wife, Alyce, of Strong City, Oklahoma; Gary Robinson and wife, Jerrie of Bowling Green, Kentucky; 1 daughter, Sue Sanchez and husband, Troy of Mountair, New Mexico; 2 sisters, Pearl Mcehee and Merle Little, both of Yuca Valley, California; 3 grandchildren, Debbie Powers and husband, Joe of Woodward, Oklahoma, Gaylon Robinson and wife Sherry of Cimarron, Kansas, Tammy Robinson of Dumas, Texas; 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey Powders, Jesse Powders, and Baylee Powders; special friends, Ora Bell Leach, Veneta Orgain; cousin Arlee Githensa; and host of other relatives and friends.
