Rivers, 84, of Lubbock were held Thursday at the Ford chapel of the First Baptist Church. Dr. D.L. Lowrie and Rev. John Ballard officiated. Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of the Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Rivers died Monday morning, October 13, 1996, at his residence following and illness. Born December 18, 1912 in Denison, Texas he has lived in Lubbock since 1968, moving from Del City, Oklahoma. He was married to Voncile Crane on August 5, 1934 in Hammon, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on January 22, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanna Sterling in June of 1991. He was owner and operator of a Hydraulic Equipment Co. in Lubbock and also in Oklahoma. He was a former member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his son: Jimmy of San Francisco; 1 sister, Ida Mae Klovstad of Fort Worth, Texas; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
