"Jack" Rose was born January 17, 1911 near Butler, Oklahoma to Mollie and John R. Rose. He passed away September 14, 2005 at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 27 days. Jack attended schoold at Rocky, 8 miles northeast of Strong City. Jack worked on the family ranch and later bought his own and was raising cattle when he married Alena Weaver at Hammon, Oklahoma on April 6, 1947. They later moved into Strong City, Oklahoma before moving to Elk City, Oklahoma in 1989 to make their home. Jack always loved his cattle and horses. He had also worked in the feed mill at Cheyenne for a number of years. Jack obeyed the Gospel in 1955. He was an active member of the Second and Adams Church of Christ until ill health forced him to stay home. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Alice Thomas, Katherine Switzer aand Elizabeth Roberts. He is ssurvived by his wife, Alena, of the home; two nieces, Wilma Tanner, Washington and Alice Marie Bolton, Lindsay, Oklahoma; two nephews, Dale Roberts, Flower Mound, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday, Sepyember 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Whinery- Chapel officiated by J.A. Farber and Tom Hargues. Burial will be at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Home.
