She died April 25, 1987 at Ponca City, Oklahoma. After attending high school at Berlin and college at Stillwater, Evelyn was married to Cecil Richards of Newkirk, Oklahoma. To this union was born two sons and one daughter. Her husband, her three children and six grandchildren survive her. Other survivors include two sisters, Essie Blackburn and Ruby Burkhalter of Sayre, and one brother Charles of Berlin. Her parents, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services for Evelyn were held April 28, 1987 at Newkirk Church of Christ, of which she was a charter member. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
