He passed away September 16, 2005 aqt Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 26 days. Joe grew up in Durham where he graduated from high school before continuing his education at Southwestern Oklahoma College in Weatherford. He returned to Cheyenne was married to Thelma Naomi McGlothlin south of Cheyenne, Oklahoma on October 19, 1941. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Cheynne where he made his home until his passing. Joe owned Redden Luber and Supply until 1965 when he purchased the Cheyenne Star. He also had interests in other newspapers and cable television business throughout western Oklahoma. He was a member of Cheyenne First Baptist Church. Thelma passed away on March 2, 1995 and in addition to her, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Blood and husband Andy, Moore, Oklahoma; three sons, Jerry Redden and wife Judy, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Oran Redden and wife, Debbie, Moore, Oklahoma, Ray Redden and wife, Helen, Temple, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held on September 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Aubrey Cowan. Burial was held at Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
