The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Mrs. Carrie Shaw Mrs. Carrie Shaw, one of Roger Mills County's early settlers passed away December 20, 1962 at 3:32 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Teresa Shaw, at Amarillo, Texas. Services were conducted Saturday, December 22, 1962 at 2 p.m. in the Reydon Community Building with Rev. Sanford Cole officiating. Burial was in the Eller Flats Cemetery, Gem City, Hemphills County, Texas under the direction of Scroggins and Son. Nancy Carline (Carrie) Shaw was the daughter of the late J.B. and Nancy Ownbey who resided in the old Hamburg community in the late 1800's. She was born May 19, 1881 in Erath County, Texas, and came to Roger Mills County in the late 1800's. She was married to Matt H. Shaw on December 25, 1902, and they established a home and resided near the community of Hamburg from their marriage until Mr. Shaw's death in 1946. Mrs. Shaw continued to make her home at this place until about two years ago when she moved to Amarillo, Texas, to make her home with her daughter, Teresa Shaw. In addition to her daughter, two sons, J.C. of Durham and Thoral of Lowell, Michigan survive. Her oldes son, Milford preceded her in death July, 1961. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
