Mrs. Shipp was born October 31, 1917 at Sayre, Oklahoma and moved to Miami in 1968 after being in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Mildred graduated from Crawford High School in 1936 and received a degree from Southwest Teachers College of Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Snider; a son, James Albert Shipp of Miami; three sisters, Edna Hicks, Hayward, California, Othella Selby, Nevada, Missouri, and Doris Hatley, Miami. Five Brothers Oran York, Tulsa, Carol York, Union City, California, Wesley York, Donnie York and Phil York all of Durham, and two grandchildren Katrina and Brandon. Funeral services were held January 7, 1992 in the Jim Thomas Funeral Chapel, Commerce, Oklahoma with Rev. Ed McFall and Rev. Skip McClain officiating. Interment was in the G.A.R.
