Swope was born Februaary 3, 1895, at Cashion, Oklahoma. He passed away May 10, 1962, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City after a long illness, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 7 days. In 1903 the family moved to Rankin, Oklahoma which has since been his home. He served in Germany during World War I with Co. L. 142nd Infantry, 36th Division. On June 8, 1921, he was married to Zella Mae Jackson at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. He was preceded in death by one son, his father, mother and two sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, his daughter Zella Mae Hubbard of Elk City, son Leo Jr., of Stinnett, Texas, five grandchildren, one brother, Edd Swope of Chino Valley, Arizona, four sisters, Mary Trammell, of Reydon, Oklahoma, Irene Bargee, Victorville, California, Cecilia O. Hearn, Apple Valley, California and Vivienne Stickley, Reydon, one aunt, Ina Mason of Lebanon, Oregon and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives, and friends. He was a member of the Catholic Church and a charter member of the American Legion, Post 151 of Reydon, Oklahoma. Interment in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
