C.R. Tucker and assisted by Rev. Tom Cooksey and Rev. Gary Baird. Interment will follow in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Home. Lela Belle Spitzer was born July 11, 1922 in Berlin to Luther and Sarah White and died Wednesday October 4, 2006 in Sayre at thed age of 84. Lela attended Berlin School and graduated in 1940. As a child she accepted Christ as her Saviour. She married Robert Spitzer on January 7, 1942 in Sayre. She was a homemaker and also helped with the farm work. She received nurses training and in 1968 started working as a homed health nurse with the Beckham County Health Department, a position she held for 12 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sayre and served as church hostess for many years. She was also a Sunday school teacher in the children and youth department. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings; and one grandson, Buddy Harless. Survivors incude her husband of 64 years, Bob; four children, Sondra Harless and Jan Reid both of Tulsa, Jean Ann Bailey and husband, Bud of Yukon and Brad Spitzer and wifew, Dayva of Sayreds; one brother, Elmer White and wife, Betty of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Opal Strader of Greenville, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
