"Betty" Sparks was born October 27, 1918 in St. Charles, Missouri to Jospehine and Henry Edler and died January 27, 1993 in her home at the age of 74. She moved with her parents to the Canute Community and married Tom Harm Sparks on June 18, 1948 in Cordell and they made their home in the Canute area. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed needle work and had crocheted and quilted. She was an avid baker and shared her baked goods with her friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 2 grandchildren. The Prayer Vigil will be held in the Savage-Whinery chapel, 7 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Firday, at the St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Stephen Cude, Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Francis Cemetery under the direction of Savage-Whinery Funeral Service. Susvivors include 2 daughters, Loretta Simon, Elk City and Charistine Schoffner, Foss, 1 son, Phillip M.
