Shockley was born in Clay County, Missouri on October 1, 1861. He passed away December 15, 1947 in Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, two months and 15 days. He was married to Julia Kendricks on August 25, 1887. To this union was born nine children. Two daughters, Bessie Shockley and Mrs. Iva Laney, together with his mother and father and one sister and one brother have preceded him in death. He was the son of John and Nancy Shockley. He leaves to mourn his home going: two sons, Joe Shockley of Des Moines, Iowa, Tommy Shockley of Post, Texas and five daughters: Mrs. Frank Len of Reydon, Mrs. Jake Martin of Pritchett, Colorado, Mrs. Joe Hardy of Portales, New Mexico, Mrs. Charlie Barker of Dinuba, California and Mrs. Carl Elliott of Des Moines, Iowa. Besides these he leaves 46 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Dewy L. Heath, pastor of the Assembly of God church at Reydon had charge of the funeral services after which burial was in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Tunnard Funeral Home.
