Scott was born April 27, 1876 in Mercer County, Missouri to Frances J. and Alice O. Scott. He departed thisw life August 25, 1952 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 28 days. He became a Christian at an early age and united with the Methodist Church. He left Missouri and moved to Oklahoma Territory in 1901 where he lived in Day County, later known as Roger Mills County until 1937. At that time they moved to Beckham County, Oklahoma. In 1946, because of failing health, they moved to Aztec, New Mexico, to make their home. His health improved and they moved to a farm at Cedar Hill, New Mexico. There they lived until just recently when they moved back near Aztec. He was united in marriage to Lillie M. Shroyer December 25, 1902. They would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary this year. To this union were born nine children, one of which, Alcie Mae, preceded him in death in infancy. Those left to mourn his passing are: Francis A. Scott, Brownsville, Texas, Oral H. Scott, Yakama, Washington; Olive McClellan, Alamosa, Colorado; A. Clayton Scott, Grand Junction, Colorado; Rose McNelland, Aztec, New Mexico; Bertha Adams, Clinton, Oklahoma; Zola Sprowls and Ruth Reust, of Aztec, New Mexico. He is survived by two brothers, Owen Scott, Forrest Grove, Oregon, and Carl Scott, Meryn, Missouri; and two sisters, Mrs. Allita Lowry, Des Moine, Iowa; and Laconia Rouse, Savanna, Missouri; 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His life was a pioneering life marked by friendless and hospitality to everyone. His was a helping hand to everyone in need. In short his life's aim was "Let Me Live in a House by the Side of the Road and Be a Friend to Man." His home was a Christian home where Christian principles were taught and lived. All eight children are Christians. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church at Aztec, New Mexico August 26, 1952 at 2:30 p.m, with Rev. Anthenn Wade and Rev. Paul Jolly officiating. All eight children and many grandchildren attended the funeral. Interment was in the Aztec Cemetery.
