She was 98 years, 6 months and 23 days of age at the time of her passing. As a child, Ruby attended the school in Port and completed grade school and later attended high school in Sentinel, Oklahoma. On September 4, 1912 she was united in marriage to John Phillip South at Cordell, Oklahoma. The couple established their first home near Cordell and resided there until approzimately 1920. At that time Mr. and Mrs. South moved to a farm near Leedey, established their home and raised their four daughters, Emma lorraine, Johnnie Mac, Ina Lee and Ruby Aliene and their son, Billy Ray. Mrs. South took pioneer pride in her role as homemaker to her husband and children and was the foundation for their well being. She nutured her family with love, her garden, her orchard and by shouldering a partner's share of the farm work. She also found time to raise flowers and establish and maintain a beautiful yard about her home. At an early age, Mrs. South was baptized and became a member of the Bapitst Church. From the time she moved to Leedey she was a member of the First Baptist church of Leedey and remained an active member, participating in its celebration of Christ through her entire life. She delighted in her own Sunday School class, in teaching other classes and in reading and studying her Bible. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John South; by 5 sisters, Sammie, Addie, Ira, Ethel and Johnie, by 4 brothers, Arthur, Ned, Joe and Ray and by 1 great grandson, Lynn Moore. Mrs. South is survived by her daughters, Emma Albright of Leedey, Johnie Morian Hall of Leedey, Ina Wherritt of Thomas, Oklahoma and Alene Foster and her husband, Paul of Norman, Oklahoma; by her son Bill South and his wife, Betty of Leedey; by 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; by a number of nieces and nephews and by other beloved relatives and a host of friends. Services were at First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 24, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
