(Lefty) Stephens, 64, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 2, 1998, at Reasearch Medical center in Kansas City. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 5, 1998 at Park Lawn Chapel, burial in Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Stephens was born January 19, 1934 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Ernest G. and Ruby Hiatt Stephens. His family moved from Oklahoma to Buffalo, Missouri, in 1936. He enlised in the U.S. Air Force in 1952, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Dergean in 1972. The same year he moved his family to Hammon, Oklahoma where he owned and operated two businesses. In 1979, he and his wife, Erma Murray Stephens, returned to the Kansas City area. In 1993 he retired from the Marine Corps Finance Center in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Jo White, a brother Lee S. Stephens and a granddaughter Sharna K. Norman. He is survived by his wife, Erma of the home; son and daughter in law, Grant and Jamie Stephens, daughter and son in law, Kathy and Mike Norman and four grandchildren Andrew Stephens, Conner Stephens, Stephen Norman and Amber Norman all of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Juliabel Christian, Raytown, Missouri.
