Mr. Stephenson was born Jan, 20, 1925, in Strong City, Okla. He worked in the sawmill industry for several years. He moved to the Silverton area in 1975 from Milwaukie, Ore. Mr. Stephenson was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. Mr. Stephenson is survived by his wife Ruby Stephenson of Silverton, daughter Arlys Burville of Stayton, Arlene Scruggs of Silverton, son Arland Stephenson of Silverton; brothers Wesley Stephenson of Hood River, Ernest Stephenson of Granger, Duane Stephenson, John Donal Stephenson and Leo Stephenson, all of White Salmon; and Kenneth Stephenson of Murdock; sisters Dorthy Donahue of Sacramento, Calif., Ialeta Montgomery of White Salmon, Frances Roseberry of ? Idaho, June Robinett of Payson, Ariz., Clorene Stephenson of White Salmon, and Louise Mulford of Sunnyside; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday, April 17, at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton. Internment was at White Salmon, Cemetery. Roy's mother's maiden name was Courtney. Also of note, Roy was highly decorated in WWII and when he returned to White Salmon, the town honored him with a jeep. He was in the Pacific campaign.
