He has been a member of the church for over 58 years. He was active in the community and church. He served as Sunday School Supertindent for 15 years. He was a member of the board of stewarts through the years and served as chairman a great many times. He was a trustee of the church almost continuously. He repeately said he felt prepared to go at any time. He is survived by his wife Julia F. Stephens, and two sons, Bert of Elk City; and Ernest of Long Lane, Missouri. Two daughters, Mrs. W.,A. Cronin and Flora Stephens who preceded him in death and two sisters, Mrs. Bobbie Calvert of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Mrs. Minerva Simpson of Clovis, New Mexico and ten grandchildren, one great grandchild. He passed away at 10 o'clock p.m. March 13, 1939.
