Tittle, officiating. Burial was in Sweetwater, Oklahoma, under direction of Singleton Funeral Home. Mr. Stafford was a native of Hill county, and had resided in Bailey county for 22 years. He had been in ill health for some time, prior to his death in St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock. Mr. Stafford passed away January 31, at 3:35 P.M. Surviving are his wife; two children, Billy, and Stanley, both of Lubbock; his mother, Mrs Lucy Stafford of Erick, Okla.; two sisters Mrs Esther Bomar of Springlake, and Mrs Faye Ussery of Earth; two brothers, Lee of Mayfield, Okla., and Clye of Sweetwater, Okla., and three grandchildren. Active pallbearers were D.V. Terrell, Bob Sanders, Paul Powell, B.H. Tucker, Tommy Galt, an A.H. Darlcek. Honorary pallbearers was Leon Dupler, Roy Lackey, George Tyson, W.H. Eubanks, L.E. Warren, D.L. Tucker, H.C. Brashear, and D.V. St.Clair. His wife was Dess (Brewer) Stafford. She grew up in Beckham county, Oklahoma. I noticed a few post back where A.B. Witt died. That is a nephew of Dess Brewer Stafford. A.B.'s mother was Mary Brewer Witt, a sister to Dess Stafford. I am sorry Dess' name was left out of Carey's obit. If interested in sharing information contact me.
