Frankford Skidgel was born October 21, 1894 in Browning, Illinois to Marion and Alta Frankford. She moved to Oklahoma with her parents in 1901 and lived on their homestead at Dempsey, Roger Mills County, OK. Her mother selected the name of Dempsey and was the first postmaster of Dempsey, Oklahoma. Inez attended the one room school at Dempsey which her father helped build. The school was later enlarged to two rooms with over ninety pupils in attendance. She completed the eight grade at Dempsey then attended a Teacher's Normal School at Sayre, Oklahoma and was issued a Teaching Certificate. She taught her first school aty Brookside, Oklahoma at the early age of seventeen. Inesz Frankford and Ira D. Skidget were united in marriage on May 5, 1914 and four children were born to this union, Arthur, Marion, Dale and one daughter, Marie Skidgel Cagle of LaPine, Oregon. Inez and Ira and family moved to Oregon in September 1936 whyere she lived until departing this life July 12, 1985. Memorial services were held in LaPine, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Marion and two infant daughters. Inez was loved by all who knew her and many of us will long remember her faithful work in the Dempsey Community helping with programs and Christmas, Children's Day and many other special occasions.
