He passed away November 25, 1981 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Graveside rites were held Saturday, November 28, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the Canadian Cemetery with Rev. Lew Koerselman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Canadian, conducting the services. Burial was under the direction of the Stickley-Hill Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ed Brainard, Charles Batchelor, Willie Springer, Don Powell, Hiram Begert, and Charles Hickey. Houston is survived by his wife, Vivienne, his daughter and son-in- law, Ellen and Edward C. Wesner of the Stickley Ranch; and two sisters, Jessie Fry of Canadian and Virginia Zollars of El Paso. He was an active and ardent conservationist serving on the Hemphill County Soil Conservation District borad for 26 years, retiring in 1973. During this tiem he was among the leaders who brought about the Washita Watershed Flood Control program. Huston was a life-long resident of Hemphill County where he ranched for over 50 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Masonic Lodge, and the Khiva Shrine of Amarillo. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
