He suffered a heart attack while bird hunting. Mr. Skidgel was a heavy equipment operator with the family logging company, and had been working in the John Day area. He came to LaPine in 1962. A native of Oklahoma, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born May 22, 1918. Survivors include his wife; Helen G., LaPine. They were married Decenber 15, 1945, in Idaho. He leaves a son, Gary in the U.S. Navy stationed at Lemore, California, and two daughters, Nancy Skidgel, LaPine, and Mrs. Janice Winkle. There is one grandchild. Also surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ira E. Skiddgel, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Cagle, all of Laine, and two brothers, Art Skidgel, LaPine, and Dale Skidgel, LaPine and Prairie City, Oregon. Marion Skidgel's mother is a cousin of Babe Frankford. He leaves paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ira D. Skidgel, LaPine; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude Thruman, Springfield, and paternal grandfather, Boyd Beck, Eugene, Oregon. His mother, Norma Jean Skidgel, died in an automobile accident south of Bend, Oregon April 30, 1956.
