Funeral services will be Thursday January 17, 1991 at 12:00 p.m. at Willamett National Cemetery in private Memorial service and burial at 2:00 p.m. at Willamettt Nationla Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Marie was born January 24, 1920 at Eakly, Oklahoma, the daughter of Francis Marion and Samatha Janie Cherry Garretson. She was a Bible Scholar and Bible Lecture of the Baptist Church. For many years she has attended the Bible Conference in Canada. Her first school was the little one roomed school Elm Grove, west of Eakly, she also attended Caddo Valley and Highpoint one roomed schools. Then with her parents she moved to Durham, Oklahoma and attended school there and later attended Rankin and graudated from Reydon High in 1938 as Salutatorian of her class. On March 10, 1940 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, she and Frank Stout of Crawford Community were married. They lived and farmed in Crawford area until her husband was called into the Navy in World War II, after his discharge, Marie met him in Seattle, Washington and they settled in Portland, Oregon for many years then moving to Lincoln City, Oregon where they owned and operated a Motel until their retirement then moving to Otis, Oregon. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 1990. She is survived by 3 sons and one daughter Dennis Stout, Redmond, Oregon; Leslie Stout, Portland, Oregon; and her daughter Leta Jo Stout Burnham, Otis, Oregon; Five sisters Lillie Anthony, Tulare, California; Lena Owens, Hereford, Texas; Bettie Garretson, Greenville, South Carolina; Wilma Hedrick and Gladys Stone, Elk City, Oklahoma; 2 brothers Harlan Garretson, Napa, California; and Dwight Garretson, Vienna, Virginia; a sister-in-law Madelyn Lutz, Elk City; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded by her parents and one sister Velva Stone. Pacific View Funeral Home was in charge. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
