He passed from this life on Monday, July 22, 1991 at the Seiling Hospital, Selling, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-seven years, six months and ten days. Boyd's formal education began in the early statehood shcools of Mountain View and Rhea, continuing through Leedey High School of which he was a graduate, and where athletics became a major factor in his life, an interest which remained a joy throughout a period of many years. He completed his formal education in Southwestern University, Weatherford, Oklahoma. On October 18, 1925, Boyd Stoddard and Lola Lottie Quattlebaum were united in marriage in the home of the bride's parents. The home was established south of Leedey where they lived for a time, then continued living in Dewey, Custer and Roger Mills counties through the years of their marriage. Four daughters were born to Boyd and Lola Stoddar, Lorena and Loretta, and Oleta and Oneta. These daughters and their families have remained a source of great leve, pride, and joy for Boyd and Lola Stoddar through the years. Boyd's chosen life vocation was in the field of Educationj; teaching and coaching for a period of 37 years. Beginning while in Juniro High School, Boyd excelled in Track and Basketball. As a young teacher, he was insrumental in persuading many students who had finished grade school but who were unable fincancially to continue their education, to re-enter school and prepare themselved for worth-while careers. Over a period of 37 years, Mr. Stoddard became well known for his work in the field of Coaching. Schools in which he won many County, Regional and State Honors were Kiowa, Canter-Point, Leedey, Seiling and Vici. The Trophy cases in these schools contain many trophies earned during his coaching career. Mr. Stoddard was inducted into Oklahoma Hall of Fame as Boyd's High School Basketball Coach of the Year in 1973, and again was selected for this same prestigous Honor as Girl's High School Coach the following year, 1974. Following his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Stoddard established their home on their farm east of Leedey where they have since made their home. On August 30, 1924, Boyd Stoddard made his commitment of Faith in the Lord, and became a member of the Baptist Church. He served as Deacon of the Rhea Baptist Church for a period of 30 years, later attending the Leedey Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member helping in any area where he could be of help, and wherever needed. His special hobbies were hunting and fishing, and his greatest interests were all school sports, and enjoying the love and care of his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elgin and Maggie Stoddard, one sister, Lillie Williams, two brothers, Roy and Cottie Stoddard, and two infant grandsons. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lola Stoddard of the home; 4 daughters and their husbands, Lorena and Doyle Taylor of Elk City, Loretta and Jimmy Kauk of Butler, Oklahoma, Oleta and Doyle Bray of Leedey, and Oneta and Gene Coleman of Clintonj; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild, 1 aunt, Eve Stoddard of Vancouver, Washington, and 1 niece, Fawn Dee Mullins of Weatherford, and a great circle of loving friends.
