Stanford was born August 29, 1866 at Farmersville, Collins County, Texas and departed this life May 5, 1947 at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 6 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.L. Potts with whom she had made her home for the past 10 years. She was united in marriage to John M. Sanford in 1874. To this union 12 children were born. 7 boys and 6 girls. Her companion and 7 children preceded her passing. She leaves to mourn her passing 5 children: Wess Stanford, of Burleson, Texas; William Stanford, of Clinton; Lisa Turner of Hammon; R.L. Potts and Mabel Potts of Cheyenne; 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. At the age of 18 years she joined the Methodist Church and at the age of 75 she obeyed the gospel and became a member of the Church of Christ. She lived a faithful Christian life to the end.
