He passed from this life while in the Bass Memorial Hospital, Enid, Oklahoma on December 24, 1986, at the age of eighty-four years. Lee received his education in the Leedey School system, attending both Elementary and High School. He lived on the farm near Leedey during these early years and enjoyed farm life, assisting with the many tasks of early-day farming, which was a part of the life of all early Oklahoma farm boys. On February 24, 1925, Lee Vernon Sauter and Ruby Marie Joy were united in marriage in Taloga, Oklahoma. One son, Ival, was born to them. The first year of their marriage was spent on the farm near Leedey. In 1926 they established their home in Taloga where Mr. Sauter was employed by the Champlin Oil Company for a number of years, then he pruchased the Sinclair Station which he owned and operated until 1980 when he sold the business and retired. This business, over a period of many years, brought him in contact with many people, who became life-long friends. These friendships extended over the years and his life was greatly enriched by the kindness and deep esteem in which he was held by these friends and neighbors. Mr. Sauter's special hobby was raising and training horses. He enjoyed, not only caring for them, but delighted in seeing them perform in various races at Raton, New Mexico. This remained a special joy for him as long as he was able to participate. In the early life, Lee made his commitment of Faith in Christ, was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church of Taloga. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in which he was very interested and active, holding various officers in the Club over the years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a kind, helpful neighbor and friend, always pleased to be of help to those in need. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Marie, his parents, George and Ara Delle Satuter, two brothers, Les Sauter and Ward Sauter and one sister, Alice Sauter in childhood. He is survived by one son, Ival and wife, Lois of Tulsa, two grandsons, Randall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Brent, six great grandchildren, one sister, Lucy Burnett of Osage City, Kansas, and one brother, W.A. Sauter of Leedey, several nieces and nephews, other loved ones and many friends. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
