Stewart were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 1951 at the Pentecostal Holiness churh. Rev. Albert Trent, Hobart, was the officiating minister, assisted by Rev. J.W. Mooney, Hammon, and Rev. Clyde Darr, Wichita, Falls, Texas. Burial was in Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma. John M. Stewart was born at Forney, Texas, on November 13, 1882; departed this life at Elk City Feburary 21, 1951, following an illness of 21 months. He was 78 years 3 months 8 days of age. On October 2, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Lettgie E. Lowry in Tillman County, near Blaire, Oklahoma. They came to Roger Mills County in December, 1926, residing on a farm until 1943 when they moved to Hammon, where he has since resided. Mrs. Stewart preceded him in death December 31, 1947, at Hereford, Texas. All his eight children survive; they are Jim Stewart, Cleburne, Texas; Mrs. Clellya Schroer, Indianapolis, Indiana; Mrs. Allie Smith, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Tom, Clyde and Johnny Stewart, Mrs. Dessie Mae Webb and Cleo Taylor, all of Hammon. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fannie Stewart, 17 grandchildren, and other relatives and his many friends who are sad because of his passing.
