Salter, son of Henry and Mamie Joiner Salter was born at Wellington, Texas on February 14, 1901. He passed from this life on Saturday, October 26, 1996 at the Seiling Municipal Hospital, Seiling, Oklahoma. Mr. Salter had reached the age of 95 years at the time of his death. "Hank", as he was lovingly called, grew to manhood at Wellington, Texas where he attended the local schools. On August 13, 1938 Hank was united in marriage to Della Rose at Leedey, Oklahoma. To this most happy union a daughter, Janet Faye was born. For his life's work Hank chose the grocery business. He worked in several stores in Texas, and after he and Della were married he was employed in the grocery stores and drug stores in Leedey. Hank was a very dependable and faithful employee. Always desiring to serve his customers the very best he could. He formed a dear friendship with the children of the community. In his retirement years Hank enjoyed watching baseball games on television and listening to country and western music. At the age of 67 Hankd was baptized and became a member of the Leedey Church of Christ. He always enjoyed worshipping his Creator with his fellow churchmen. Mr. Salter was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, E.P. Salter and one sister, Mal Webb. Those remaining to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Della of the home in Leedey, his daughter, Janet Alewine and son in law, Robert of Friendswood, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Michelle Taliman and husband, Keith, Katerina Bernard and husband, Michael and Sandy Alewine, also 3 great grandchildren, several relatives and a host of friends. Services were at the Church of Christ, Leedey, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 19, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in the Trail Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
