She lived most of her childhood in Leedey, Oklahoma other than a short timre in Weslaco, Texas. She attended grade school and high school at Leedey Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1933. On August 13, 1938, Della married Henry (Hank) Salter in Leedey, Oklahoma. One daughter was born to this union, Janet. The family lived in Leedey, Oklahoma until 1952 when they moved to Borger, Texas then in 1962 they moved to Memphis, Texcas before returning to Leedey in 1967. Della enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, working crossword puzzles and reading. She volunteered many hours at the Leedey Nursing Center and loved to talk about her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren. Della waas a member and baptizzed at the Leedey Church of Christ. Those preceding her in death were her husband, Henry Salter, her parents, Charles and Nettie Rose, four sisters, Alice Clark, Edith Fisk, Annie Jones and Lelna Jones, two brothers, Frank and Earl Rose. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Alewine and husband, Roger of Humble, Texas; one sister, Erma James of Leedey, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Michelle Tallman of Humble, Texas, Karina Bernard and husband Michael of McKinnery, Texas and Lindy Kowalk and husband Sgt. Jeff of Baumholder, Germany, five great grandchildren, Amber Bernard, Stephanie Bernard, Cory Tallman, Sena Sandoval and Ty Mason Kowalk, several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends. Services were held Friday, January 9, 2004 at Church of Christ in Leedey, Oklahoma with Pastor Dennis Faulks officiating. Internment followed in Trail Cemetery, Leedey, Dewey County, Oklahoma. Arrangements made by Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey, Oklahoma.
