He passed away Monday, March 24, 2003 in his home in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 83. Mr. Sumpter was a veteran of WW II and D-Day survivor, serving in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, officiated by a Military Chaplin. Services are under Don Granthan Funeral Home, Duncan, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Vicki Oleta pan Jackson and Virginia Ann Chishum, a half brother, two sisters and a half sister, and three grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters, Alice Cline and Jolenda Sue Powers and Lydia Mattlage of Georgia; three sons, Gary Sumpter of New Mexico, Frank Sumpter of Texas and Michael Sumpter Tucker serving in the Military in Japan; three brothers, J.D. Sumpter of New Mexico, Jack Sumper and Charles Sumpter of Oklahoma and a sister, Jeannie O. Gillian of New Mexico; several grandchildren and great grandchildrenv.
