Myrtle was a member of the first graduating class of Foss High School in 1925. She married Arthur Leland Smith on July 25, 1926 in Foss, Oklahoma. Myrtle held both a Batchelor's and Master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State College of Weatherford, Oklahoma. She taught shcool for 33 years at Crawford, Spring Creek, Ft. Carson, Coloardo and Elk City. Myrtle had been a member of the Elk City First Presbyerian Church for many years. For the last 7 years, Myrtle had resided at the Bell Avenue Nursing Center in Elk City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1991 and 1 brother, Raymond. She is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, M. Irene and J.L. Unger, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Christine Smith and Ronald and Joy Smith; 1 brother, Clayton Hall, 1 sister, Naomi Tyler; 3 grandsons, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Graveside services were june 9, 1998 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 11-Jun-1998
