She came with her family in 1903 to live near Erick, Oklahoma. She was second in a family of thirteen children. At the age of 18 she started teaching in her home school. She married Guy Linville and they taught together in the Old Herring and Three Corner Schools as well as several years at Crawford. They also taught in Beckham county before going to New Mexico to teach. He was killed in a car accident. Pearl returned to Oklahoma and taught in Caddo County and in Oklahoma County before marrying Coy Smith. They moved to California where she taught again until the returned to Oklahoma City. Coy Smith died in 1967. Pearl became a christian at an early age and was a member of the church of Nazarene for over 70 years. Four brothers and sisters, as well as her parents, preceded her in death. The survivors include, Eva Mae Young, of Crawford, Grayce Hembree and Pauline Fauss, of Bethany, and Freda Campbell of Oklahoma City, V.A. Hamman, of Oklahoma City, Roy and Virgil, of Bethany and Joe of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; fourteen nieces and fifteen nephews, one of which is Harold Hamman of Erick, Oklahoma. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
