Smith, 60, of LaMarque, Texas were held on Saturday, July 16, 1983 in Hitchock, Texas. Mr. Smith died Thursday July 14, 1983 at Memorial Hospital in Texas City, Texas. He was born March 19, 1923 in Chillicothe, Texas. He was employed by Union Carbide for 31 years and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 527 of Galveston, Texas. Mr. Smith was a LaMarque resident since 1951 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaMarque. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Smith of LaMarque; two sons, Ron Smith of Katy, and Dennis Smith of Angleton; four sisters, Effie Stuart of Dallas, Veta Fay Platts and Imogene Wilcos, both of Borger, Texas, and Wanda Binkley of Tucson, Arizona; four brothers, Melvin Smith of Hedley, Texas; Everett Beaver of Anson, Texas; Cecil Smith of San Luis Obispo, California and five grandchildren Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
