Edward L. Smith

Funeral for Edward Lee Smith, 80, of Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at 
Lawton Ritter Dalton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Peery, pastor of 
First United Methodist Church, Elgin, officiating.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday morning in a local nursing home following a 
lengthy illness.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Smith was born July 12, 1904, in Roger Mills County. He grew up in the 
Altus, Snyder and Indiahoma areas. He worked for 12 years at Fort Sill and 
for 23 1/2 years for Dolese Brothers Co. He retired in 1965. He married 
Hattie Tomlinson in January 1936 in Vernon, Texas.

Survivors include his wife of Las Cruces, New Mexico; two sons, Forrest E. 
of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Jimmie L. of Lawton; a sister, Mollie 
Henderson of Roosevelt; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.
