She was born August 25, 1899, in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Clark. She attended Texas schools and moved with her family in a covered wagon to western Oklahoma. Her mother died when she was 11 years old, and Helen and her twin sister, Ellen, raised three younger brothers. Helen Clark married Ralph Small on July 14, 1917, at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and the couple lived in Roger Mills County, OK, until 1947, when the family moved to a ranch near Busby. Small always mentioned that she enjoyed cooking for that "Hungry Cowboys." Her husband died in 1981. Helen was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Dale Small of Pompey's Pillar; five daughters: Mrs. Jean Jines of Busby, Mrs. Jerry Kissick of Wylie, Texas, Mrs. Mildred Chalfant of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mary Gidley of Perryton, Texas and Mrs. Johnye Miller of Devil's Tower, Wyoming; her twin sister, Mrs. Ellen Wyatt of Hawkins, Texas; one brother, Glenn Clark of Shreveport, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 1984, at the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
