He spent most of his life in this same community. He attended Freeport School and continued his education at the State University of Col;umbia, Missouri. On October 17, 1918 he married Cuma E. Sadler and to this union a son James Earl was born. He also had an older son, Gordon, by a former marriage. He enjoyed his work in the Masonic Order, The Earl Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Coffey, Missouri, having been a member of the Order for more than 62 years jewel from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows some years ago. He was a Charter member of the Eastern Star. A fervant spokeman for the Democratic party. He was a farmer in early years and had been a director of The Farmer's Mutual Insurance for 23 years. He was a devoted husband and father. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Cuma, two sons, Gordon of Pallontung, Missouri; and James Earl of Topeka, Kansas; two daughters-in-law, Lucille and Beulah, five grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was also a brother-in-law of Eva Briggs of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and the late Ethel Sadler. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
