He passed away February 18, 2006 at his home near Leedey. He was married on December 25, 1960 to Annie B . DeSpain, who preceded him in death in 1990. He married Evelyn Switzer on October 5, 1991. James was raised in Reydon and attended Reydon Public schools, graduating in 1947, continuing his education at the Sayre Jr. College. He worked for the United States Soil Conservation District for thirty years while also ranching and farming. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. James is preceded in death by his first wife, five brothers; Martin, Clifford, Ora, Floyd and Ralph, two sisters, Edith Hooper and Myrtle Glasss and grandchildren Amy Jones and Sara Switzer. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of the home; a sister, Orma West of Burkburnett, Texas; a brother, Don of Amarillo, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and S! ally DeSpain of Elk City, Gary and Jane Switzer of Leedey, Larry and LaRue Switzer of Hammon; grandchildren Blake DeSpain of Weatherford, Brady and Nelya DeSpain of Blackwell, Darrell Switzer of Oklahoma City, Amber Switzer of Tahlequah, Heather, Lara and John Switzer of Hammon and by five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends. Services were held Tuesday, Feburary 21, 2006 in Reydon Community Center, Reydon, Oklahoma with interment following in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Holme, Leedey, Oklahoma.
