Anita married Earl L. Scroggins June 23, 1923 at Minneapolis, Kansas. After their marriage they owned and operated the Scroggins Mortuary in Wathena, Kansas, then after they moved to Enid, Oklahoma until 1929 when they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where they owned and operated the Scroggins Funeral Home until 1961. Anita owned and operated Anita's Flower Shop in Sayre for several years. They owned and operated the Scroggins Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Cheyenne, Oklahoma for several years. Anita was a licensed funeral director and had been a floral designer since 1948. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1936. She was a member of the Sayre Order of Eastern Star Chapter III, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1938. She received her 50 year pin in 1984. Past president of the "As You Like It Club", past president of the Sayre B & PW Club, had served as secretary of the Sayre and Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 2 sons, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson. Survivors include 1 daughter, Patricia Ann and son-in-law, Bill Grimes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Mrs. Hazel Smith, Minneapolis, Kansas and Mrs. Opal Collister, Boise, Idaho; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 16, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne and A.L. Martin and Willard Cox officiating. Burial followed in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne. Pallbearers were: Terrell Scroggins, Chris Scroggins, Kevin Smith, Bill Grimes, Steve Grimes and Mark Grimes. Honorary pallbearers were: J. Warren Chalfant, Gerold Bibb and Bill Spence.
