Sharum and passed away May 24, 1995 at his home in Sayre at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 19 days. Lee grew up in the Strong City area. He moved with his family to Oregon where they lived for a short time before Lee joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later enlisted in the U.S. Nacy and he served during World Warr II in the South Pacific. After his discharge he entered the Merchant Marine. After finishing his service, he moved to Sayre. On October 10, 1950 he married Jackie Embry in Amarillo, Texas and they lived in Sayre where he has made his home since. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Dorothy, 1 sister, Viola and 4 brothers, Dalton, Owen, Wilson and Glen. He is survived by 3 daughters, Leann Welk, Debbie Sharum, both of Sayre, Oklahoma and Kay Roper, Cedar Lake, Oklahoma; 2 sons, Zane Sharum and Ray Sharum, both of Sayre, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Louise Gunter of Fosds, Oklahoma and Vreta Sharum, Denver, Colorado; 1 brother, Danny Sharum, Elk City, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Elbert Spears II, Robby Welk, Joshua Welk, Gage Sharum, Justin Roper, 2 stepsisters, Sue Fielder, Lone Grove, Oklahoma and Marie Mayes, Sayre, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 1995 at the Rose Chapel officiated by David Clewell. Interment was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
