He passed from this life June 15, 1999, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 12 days in White Creek, Davidson Co., Tennessee. Steven was born on his parents' homestead located about three miles east and south of thed Cheyenne Golf Course. His father died when Steven was four years old. His mother sold the homestead and bought a farm near Carpenter, Oklahoma and lived there ten years before buying a farm near Roll, Oklahoma. Steven lived in Oklahoma all of his lifed except the spring and summer months of the late 30's when he and two brothers went to Orego to work. He was a dedicated farmer from the word GO. Steven met Alma Butler and married in 1940. The first half of 1940, he and Alma went to Oregon. Then they made their home in the Roll/Crawford community for the remainder of their married life. To them were born three children. Onre daughter, died at birth. Two sons, Douglas of Nashville, Tenessee and Donald Neal of Crawford, Oklahoma. He had four grandchildren, Michele King, Scott Schmidt, Rae Lynn Schmid and Sterling Schmidt. He also had three great gvrandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, daughter and sister. He leaves three brothers: Isaac, of Sayre, OK, John of Donald, Oregon and Paul of Tishimingo, Oklahoma. Steven was a member of the Church of Christ of Crawford, then went to the Cheyenne Church of Christ late in life. He will always be remembered in the Roll/Crawford communities as a person that helped anyone that asked. Also he sang at many funerals, helped hand dig many graves, served as a pall beare and many times a combination of the three. Asked one time about how many funerals he had helped with and his answer was that he had over two hundred cards and there were many that he didn't save the cards in his early days.
