Danny Ringer officiating. Interment was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Cecil Dewitt Smith was born September 16, 1915, at Carter, to W. Yeakley and Allie (Brown) Smith and passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the age of 93. Cecil was in the first graduaing class and the oldest surviving graduate of Crawford High School. He was marrried to Opal Kendall on May 27, 1939, at Sayre, and she preceded him in death on August 24, 1997, Cecil was married to Betty Williams Vermillion on May 24, 1998, at Elk City. He moved to California in 1940 and spent 44 yeas with the Southern Pacific Railroad retiring in 1984 and returned to Elk City. Cecil was an active Gideon and spoke at many churches throughtout the territory. He was deaacon at the First Baptist Church a Elk City and especially enjoyed the Tuesday Moning Prayer group and the Gideons' Saturday Morning Breakfast and also the Homebound Ministries of the First Baptist Church of Elk City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal, his parents, three brothers, Melvin Smith, R.E. Smith, Everett Beaver, three sisters, Veta Fay Platt, Wanda Binkley, Effie Stuart and a son-in-law, Timothy Womack. Survivors include his wife, Betty Smith, of the home; children, Rodney Smith and his children, Jackson and Emily of Rockville, Md; Kay Bridgewater and her husband C.C. and their children, Beau Bridgewater and his wife Katt, and Jeff and Chris Bridgewater of Castle Rock, Washington; Marilyn Thomas and her husband Mike of Yukon; Lois Degan and her husband Dale of Altus; Karen Womack of Katy, Texas; Kieffer Vermillion and his wife Brenda of Aledo, Texas; Naomi Wiles and her husband Willie of Lawton; a brother, Jackie Dean Smith of Borger, Texas; a sister, Imogene Wilcox of Borger, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Murriell Beaver of Austin, Texas, Marjie Smith of Texas City, Texas and numerous grand and great grandchildren. The familly request memorials in Cecil's name be made to the Gideons.
