He passed away July 28, 2009 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 13 days. Lloyd grew up on the family farm west of Cheyenne and attended Cheyenne Schools. After Graduation in 1944, Lloyd served in the United States Army until he was 22 years old. He was married to Barbara J. Carson on October 3, 1949 in Dalhart, Texas. He and Barbara lived in Cheyenne where they raised their two children, Marcia and Carson. Lloyd did earth moving work for many years. Eventually, he worked for the Soil Conservation Service and later owned his own business of buying and selling mineral rights. In 1981 they moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma and later settled in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, 1 child, Allen Lloyd Smith, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Barbara J., of the home; 1 daughter, Marcia Haverly and husband, John, Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 son Carson Smith, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren Brooks Austin, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brian Austin, Erick, Oklahoma and Kristy Austin Klugman, Phoenix, Arizona, 1 great grandchild, Summer Klugman, Phoenix, Arizona. And a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Greg Keith and Leland Burns. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
