Smith early-day settler in the Grimes community who succumbed Saturday in an Amarillo hospital after an operation, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday from the Sunny Point school. He had been in ill health for two months. The deceased had been a resident of western Oklahoma for 36 years and was 69 years, five months and 19 days of age at the time of his passing. He homesteaded on a farm in the Grimes community in 1900, coming to that section from El Reno. Survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Marion Smith of Monta Vista, Colo.; Mrs. Elmer Reynolds, Albuquerque, N.M.; Mrs. Sidney Barclay, and Mrs. Elvin Barclay, both of Hereford, Tex.; two sons Calud Smith, Alamosa, Colo. and Fred Smith of Grimes; one brother, Jeff Smith, Lindon, Kans., two sisters Mrs. Emma Seaman, Kansas City; and Mrs. Sadie Coleman, Kansas City. Burial rites were at the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Moore Funeral home in charge.
