Interment followed at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Ethel Maye Stamper was born May 13, 1918 at Keller, Oklahoma to Stephen Aaron and Isabel (Wallace) Pitcock and passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the age of 89. She was raised in the Strong City and Hammon area and was married to Gordon U. Stamper on December 25, 1936 at Hammon, Oklahoma and they lived in the Strong City and Hammon area most all their married life. Mr. Stamper preceded her in death on April 3, 1983. Mrs. Stamper moved to Clinton some 10 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Samantha Stamper, a son, Gordon A. Stamper, grandson, Justin Stamper and four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include three children: Loyette Buffum and her husband Roy, of Overbrook, Kansas, Gene Stamper, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Bill Stamper and his wife, Peggy, of Yukon, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
