"C.R." Stancel was born April 6, 1926 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Edmond and Samuerl Clifford Stancel. He passed away October 30, 2008 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 24 days. C.R. grew up in the Hammon community where he attended school. He was married to Lillie Mae Reiner at Wheeler, Texas on May 17, 1943. He entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in Germany. After his discharge he continued to serve in the Reserve. He and Lillie lived in Hammon, Oklahoma before moving to Elk City in 1950 to make their home and he and his son owned and operated Stancel and Son Paint and Drywall. He was a member of the Hammon Assembly of God Church. C.R. was a life member of the DAV and also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel officiated by Richard Wagnon and Rick Wagnon. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Savage Funeral Service. Survivors: Lillie of the home, 2 daughters: Darla Wagnon, Clinton, Oklahoma, Reva Schones, Mustang, Oklahoma, 1 son: Wayne Stancel, Hammon, Oklahoma, 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchildren.
