His parents, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Southwestern State University in Weatherford and did his graduate work at O.U. He started his career teaching and coaching in Roger Mills County in 1922. He coached and was superintendent at Greacemont form 1926-1935. He later taught at Meridian, Pie Flat, Hammon, Carpenter, Elk City, and then moved to Oklahoma City area where he finished his career at Luther, McLoud and Oklahoma City Central High. He was a member of the 31st and Penn Church of Christ, member of Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association, and Maxonic Lodge (50 year member). He loved the stewardship of his land in Custer County and maintained close ties with family and ranching for more than sixty years. He is survived by his wife Auda of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Mayola Kerr and Ila White of Edmond, Oklahoma and one son T.E. Tippens, Jr. of Hammon, Oklahoma. There are elven grandchildren, Bruce Kerr, Alan Kerr, Byron Kerr, Terry Tippens, Darryl Tippens, Kathy McDonald, Tom L. Tippens, Doug Tippens, Joe D. Tippens, Steve White and Perry White. There are twenty-three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Demuth Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
