Tate, age 87 died Sunday, September 9, 2001 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a long illness. He was born on May 5, 1914 at Wapanucka, Oklahoma to Watt and Julia Ida Darter Tate and has spent his entire life in Oklahoma. He was a longtime employee of the United States Department of Agriculture and was a longtime member of the Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Ruby Faye Flenner, one grandson Terry Dean and three brothers, Floyd, Alvin and Kenneth. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Violet of the home; two sons Orville A. Tate, Jr. and wife Jeanie of Yukon , Jim Tate, and one daughter Betty Beaty and husband Gary of Oklahoma City. Also by twenty five grand and great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two brothers, Winfred and Gerald both of Texas, three sisters Lona Mollett of Chickasha, Delta V. Wood and Rita Sage both of Anadarko, special friends Connie, Lacy and Laren Sears of Mustang and host of nieces, nephews and friends. We will all miss his presence in our lives. Memorial may be made to the Linwood United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. Services will be held at Linwood United Methodist Church at NW 17th and Drexel in Oklahoma City at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2001 with interment following at 2 p.m. in the Murray Cemetery, Binger, Oklahoma under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
