Taylor, 76, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services were held in the Savage Funeral Home Chapel in Elk City with Rev. Jack Burns and Rev. Bart Montgomery officiating. Jessie Maxine Evans Taylor died on Monday, May 5, 1986, near Weatherford while enroute to an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born on December 1, 1909 in Newlin, Texas, the daughter of Nance V. and Alice Evans. Miss Evans moved to Canute with her family at the age of six. She attended the Canute School and two nurse's training at El Reno. On October 26, 1929, she was married to Leonard Taylor in Clinton, Oklahoma. They made their home on a farm east of Hammon. She was a member of the Hammon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, having served as past matron of the chapter as well as Past Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of Oklahoma in 1958 and 1959. She was also a member of the White Shrine and the First Baptist Church of Hammon. The Taylors moved to Elk City in 1980. Burial followed in the Butler Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Leonard, of the home; a sister, Mattie Catts of Memphis, Texas; and six nieces and nephews. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
