Samuel Philip Thompson was born near Berkeley Springs, West Virginia November 14, 1839, where he resided until about 20 years of age, when he went to Illinois, where he was married to Sarah Elizabeth Claypool February 6, 1870. To them was born eight children, all of whom are living except one daughter, Mrs. Anna Vorhees who died in 1907. They first resided in Joe Davis County, Illinois, until May, 1875, when they moved to Adair County, Missouri, where they lived until March 1903, when he came to Oklahoma settling on his present homestead. He was a strong man for his age but was stricken with paralysis February 21, 1913. He seemed to rally and be improving when he becam worse and passed away at (:40 Tuesday March 11, 1913.
