She passed away March 28, 2007 at Amarillo, Texas at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 23 days. When Winona was six months old, the family moved to Balko, Oklahoma in Beaver County. When she was 5 years old they moved southwest of Durham. Winona graduated from Durham High School and later married Bruce Thomas on July 17, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma. After their marriage, they lived in the Durham community until 1980 when they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Winona was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School classes for many yearw. She always loved to go to church. She often said she thanked God for giving her parents who taught her the Bible. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce and one sister, Cleta Estes. Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law, James and Peggy Thomas, of Amarillo, Texas; 1 daughter andf son-in-law, Linda and Thoral Shaw, of Durham, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Jaquetta, Teresa, Janie and Johnny; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Intertment in Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, under direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
