Townsend, 80, passed away on Sunday, Mary 24, 1998 at the Crane Memorial hospital, Crane, Texas. Services were held Wednesday, Mary 27, 1998 at the Box Funeral Home chapel. Graveside services were held Wednesday in the City Cemetery in Nocona, Texas. Services were under the direction of Richard W. Box Funeral Home. Townsend was born April 28, 1981 in Healdton, Oklahoma. He was married to Iris Fern Leary on January 8, 1950 in Reydon, Oklahoma. They moved to Crane, Texas in June 1963. He was employed by Atlantic Richfield as a pumper until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Methodist Church and served in the United Startes Coast Guard during World War II. He is survived by his wife Fern of the home; five daughters, Storm and Dan, Susan and J.L. :awless, Claudia and Bill Wolfe, Randy Blanton, Jill and Gary Hudgens; one son Graham and Janet Townsend; two brothers, Dr. Charles Townsend and Edd Townsend; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; his mother-in-law, Helen Barton.
